Paradise

• A perfect paradise for me is living at the beach in a place where it is warm all year long and the surrounding area is privatized. I would like there to be a helicopter pad for my personal little work vehicle , I'd conduct business negotiations and have my own personal vault to store all my millions. I would hire personal chef's to cook restaurant quality foods like McDonald's one day and the next have Angus barn quality food. Also i would fish everyday there is nice weather so in conclusion my perfect paradise would be somewhere in the Caribbean.

My Life

Well my name is O. R. and I'm writing about my life. Well I'm 16 years old and I'm about to have a baby. I feel good and blessed. But yea, I would like to give a better life to him than the 1 I've had. I'm going to do my best to be with him at all timez. My girlfriend's name is D. and she's the nicest girl I ever met in the world. She helps me when I need her and I help her too. We are going to have a lil boy together she's real happy about it. 3 Best ways of studying!!!

Need help studying? Got a math or spelling test coming up? Well here are some of my best ways of studying.

One way of studying is to use flashcards. They help you memorize things and are also quick to use. Flashcards are also cheap and easy to afford. On one side you write the word and on the other side you write the explanation of the word. If you realize that they are handy to use it will become easier for you in the future.

My second way of studying is making songs. They are a tool to help you memorize things and they are easy to catch on to. You use songs occasionally because they are fun to make and it is not boring. They are appropriate in school with studying before a test because they are easy to remember and sometimes it gets stuck in your head.

My last way of studying is playing games with my friends or people. They are a creative way to study and you are also having fun while you are learning. They are also fun ways to have a nice and entertaining conversation over the phone or in person. An individual will find this way of studying more fun and more helpful for you and your friends.

I hope you enjoy my three best ways of studying and find them convenient to use.

CHRISTMAS

What i think when i think about Christmas is the gifts i normally like to receive then to give and what would make it a great Christmas if it would snow.

The ultimate Christmas gift for me is a plane ticket to California because i really have fun over there and it is really warm.

I really enjoy the food we have for christmas dinner.We have diffrent things such as tamales empanadas and other stuff mainly hispanic food.

My favorite music

My favorite music is rap and r&b. It's my favorite because of the beats they have and the lyrics that some songs have. One of my favorite artist is nicki minaj because of the way that she does her songs and the happy mood they put me in. One of my favorite songs is My Story. I like the way the song expresses feelings of life. The song tells how life is not easy.

In the morning i wake up and turn on my music while I'm getting ready for school. I like to do that so I can go to school in a good mood. I also listen to music at school while I am doing my work because it helps me tune people out and focus on my work.

I listen to music while I'm on the phone with my friends. We talk about songs or we just sing or rap along to the music that we are listening to. We do it to have fun or just because we are bored. Music is a stress reliever because it can always put you in a good mood.

What Is A Perfect Society In The Giver

A perfect society represented by "The Giver" is a community where there is no war. In this book only peace and the supposed greater good rule over all aspects of life. Also people never starve and are never rude,they take "wonder pills" to suppress emotion and drive. Furthermore the community uses every resource to its fullest potential,even trash. There are positives and negatives to this perfect society.The positives in "The Giver" are no disease ,famine or over population. The negatives to this are assisted suicide, authoritarianism and no freedom to do what you want at any time or any day. In my opinion I'd rather live in this society because at least if you don't like it you have an opportunity to change it if people around you truly believe that the laws are wrong. However "The Giver" society does sound good but, it is just too perfect, it throws away all the hard work generations have fought for in the past. MF

This year is great I just started high school and I really like a lot.
Its way better than middle school and I have less homework to do..
I meet new people and other people that I already know, so yeah
my year is starting off great, and another thing i like is that its more peaceful when you are walking around the school. My favorite class is
African American History its so fun and there is so much stuff to do everyone
gets along with each other and everyone respects others opinion even if the
question is wrong or sounds silly. But one thing i don`t like is the lunch line ITS SO LONG AFTER YOU GET YOUR LUNCH IF YOU EVEN GET A CHANCE TO
EAT ITS ALREADY TIME TO GO TO 3RD PERIOD!!!

I’m reading a book called "Hoop City" it’s about two brothers who eventually want to play in the N.B.A together. They live in the streets called Harlem. They experienced joy and pain wining and losing. Their life is all about basketball until one night…

Mike and Tony, who they sometimes call T are twin bothers. They were born 2 minutes apart. They love the sport basketball they both play guard positions on the court. They both are planning on going to university of New York.

They both feel living in New York is going to be the greatest and saddest thing they’re ever done. They’re ready to go to college, and play college basketball. Until the night Mike goes to a party with some friends Tony doesn’t like. Tony goes to get his brother at the party because a girl told him that something bad is suppose to happen at the party. Once Tony gets to the party he hears gun shots. If you want to know what happens go read the book.

The Most Dangerous Two Sea Creatures

The Great White Shark is my favorite sea creature in the book “The 10 Deadliest Sea Creatures” because it is very strong and fast. The shark’s mouth is three to four feet wide, with row after row of jagged, saw-like teeth. The great white shark can swim up to 30 mph and smashes into the prey. The shark then takes a huge bite of the shocked victim and waits for it to bleed to death. The shark’s favorite meals are whales, seals, sea lions, and dolphins. It also eats other animals and even humans. The shark can sense a few drops of blood from up to three miles away. The shark can also go without eating for up to three months.

My second favorite sea creature is the Saltwater Crocodile. What I like about this croc is that it is very sneaky. It can jump, walk, and run on land. A croc can stay under water for up to five hours.

What I like about both of these creatures is that they both have a lot of teeth. They both can be found in the Australia waters. They both eat humans but that is what I don’t like about them.

SALT WATER CROCODILES

Salt water crocodiles are dangerous animals. They are known for eating a lot of thing such as water buffalo, snakes, goats and even people. Salt water crocs can weigh up to 2,000 lbs. They also can hold their breath under water for five hours. Salt water crocs have up to 68 teeth in their large mouth. Salt water crocodiles and alligators are part of the crocdilian family. Thats why u should stay away form salt water crocodiles.

My Idol

Grandma S is somebody that I can look up to. No matter what I do, I’ll always have a place in her heart. As a kid I was always under her and never wanted her to leave my side. In a way I was like her shadow. She’s always positive and always has something positive to say to me no matter what’s the situation.

My grandma is and idol to me because she’s always there such as: Court, being in the courtroom with no other family members there period. Also being there when there were problems with my mom. She’s been there when I wanted to give up and not go to school. She encouraged me to keep going. When my dad got lock up for life she was there for me loving me unconditionally. And financially she was there to put a roof over my head and food in my mouth, I always love her for that.

Bad role model, something my grandma is not. A bad role model is somebody that adds on to your bad habits and gives you more bad things s to do. And add stress upon your life. They’re always negative and try to hurt you in any type of a way, this is not my grandma.

My Independence Day

My 4th of July was great I had fun with all my friends and family getting together and celebrating Independence day.The first out of all ideas was a water gun fight it was me my friends against everyone else at the park, And the good thing about that is we won and it was only three of us out of everybody.The second thing everybody wanted to do is go to the pool,But that was okay I stayed for a little while though...Anyway we all gathered up and bought some ice cream by the time we all finished our ice cream it was already dark so we grabbed our huge bucket of fire works and headed straight to a good spot to shoot out.After that the night was long and exciting.

A Better Me

Since I started coming to The Juvenile Literacy Council I been doing better and started making better decisions. A few weeks ago I been making some bad decisions and been hanging around with bad people. I also didn't pay attention in school which lead me to bad grades. I wasn't listening to my parents which made me lose their trust.
Ever since I been attending at The Juvenile Literacy Council I been making better choices they have really change my life because now my family and friend can trust me and I can trust them as well. Now that I know what I was doing wrong I can do better in school. Ever since my parents been trusting me we been having a lot of fun together and have been spending a lot of time together and helping one another.
The Juvenile Literacy Council has really helped me a lot. Not just to me but my family too. By watching how my family felt for me when i was making bad decisions has really helped me because I can look back and look at all the wrongs things i have done and how they have affected me and my family. The friends that I hang around with right now has help me a lot because they have help me make better decisions. My teachers also help me change because they have encourage me to do better at school and in life.
My advise to you would be to try to make better decisions so you can achieve in your future. Think about how other people think about you and your decisions that way you can think about what your going to do next. Now that I'm doing better my life really changed a lot and it encourages me to keep doing good.

15 minute ice cream

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

* 1 large Ziploc bag (double layered freezer bag is best)
* 1 small sandwich Ziploc bag
* 1 tablespoon sugar
* 1/2 cup of cream
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
* 6 tablespoons rock salt
* Ice


1.) Take large Ziploc bag and fill it halfway with ice and pour the rock salt in too.
2.) mix rock salt and ice together by shaking the bag a little.
3.) Take the small Ziploc bag and pour the cream, vanilla and sugar into it and mix it up.














4.) seal the small Ziploc bag tight and put it into the big bag with the ice and rocksalt then seal that bag.
5.) shake for 15 minutes.
6.) Take the small bag out and look inside it..ICE CREAM!
7.) Add cookie crums or M&Ms (or whatever you want)
8.) Eat It!

I like the 15 minute ice cream it was good.
I didnt know that you could make it like that.

A Good Day

Today is a good day. It is sunny and God woke us up again today. You can't complain about that. I was on time because today is a good day. It's not so hot as it was yesterday. It's just right, good enough to go swimming or for a picnic or anything like that. Yesterday it was rainy and boring. Today is sunny and exciting. That's why today is a good day.

Do you like rap? I like rap.

I like the beats and the words are tight. The word "rap" is 1960s slang for talk.
Many call rap "street poetry." I think it is poetry.

none bake cookies

1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup honey or corn syrup
1/8 cup orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup nonfat milk solids
1/8 cup cocoa
1 cup rolled oats
1/8 cup chopped peanuts
1/2 tsp vanilla

when we made the none bake cookies we add all the ingredients into a big bowl. Then we stir it up so everything was mix in real good.When we through it was mix in well we dug in the bowl and roll or flatting the dough and we made about three to four cookies.After we roll it we tried the cookies to see what it might taste like .The first batch tasted like a little bit of orange juice.Then we add more honey and peanut butter and stir it up just to try another taste it you couldn't really taste the orange juice any more and the honey made it a little sticky . When you bite into the none bake cookie you could taste the peanut butter and when you start chewing you would crunch on the oats and nuts but it was good.It was my first time making none bake cookies.

Why myspace is a good social tool.

One of the reasons I think MYSPACE is good is that you can talk to people that you know, you can also interact with other people. I also think that MYSPACE is good because you don't have to use your cell phone minutes, and you can reject people that you don't want to talk to.
Another reason i think MYSPACE is good because you can listen to music. One good thing about the music for free it's also censored and uncensored. You can also listen to music on MYSPACE and get on another web site at the same time.
The last couple of reasons I think MYSPACE is good is that you can look at pictures and see what people look like. You can see pictures of peoples family and children. The last reason that I think MYSPACE is good is that you can watch videos of people and people dancing and you can learn new dances.

Growin' Up

I like this quote from Allen Iverson because I can relate. I can relate because I'm on the streets. The streets can be fun when staying out of trouble but they will never change. When I was younger I was blind to the good influences around me. I learned the system the hard way by not listening to the good influences around, like my father. But I had to learn through my own experience, like going in the system at a young age.

Learning the hard way has helped me become more mature. I was best for me to learn at a young age rather than a older age. Make sure your actions are something ok with you and no one else's influence. There is always someone that's going to try to bring you down so always keep your head up and eyes wide open. Out of all the growing I've done there's always more to do. (No one's perfect.)

MY BROTHER

My little brother was born November 6th, 2007. Before he was born I wanted him to be a girl. I prayed for nine months that he would be a girl and he still came out to be a boy I was mad!!! I wanted him to be a girl so I could put make up on him, fix his hair and dress him up but now I can't because his daddy would flip out!!!!

The day he was born my cousin sent me pictures on my cell phone. When I first saw the pictures of him I thought he was white but he's mixed. He weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces. He looked funny at first but now he's cute and fat!!!!!!!

Now he is mean. He likes to hit people. He doesn't hit me cause he know I don't play that. When I see him we play outside. He's scared of flip flops and the dark. He weighs like thirty pounds and he isn't even two. He is bright yellow and so fat. I was happy because I always wanted a little brother or sister.

Chris Brown had hit Rihanna multiple times in the face the head. He also bit her in the ear, punched and choked her. After all this Rihanna did not press charges against Chris Brown. He was released with a 50,000 bond in Los Angeles. Rihana is 21 born in Saint Michael Barbodos , and Chris is 20 born in Tappahanmock Virginiain 1989. Chris made a bad decision hitting her over a text message, sent from his manager. Personally, I think it's wrong and rude to hit Rihanna, and show a bad example on kids, because men should never hit women. He should have walked out the car, park it and gone for a walk. But he didn't and took it in his own hand and not let god do his job. I am Chris Brown fan I think he going to be ok he still one of my favorite singers in the industry.

My Thoughts

I read the article " More U.S. Troops Head for Somalia." I think it was wrong how the American officials said they would sit down with one of the most important clan leaders and work out an agreement, but at the same time they would try to capture him because his clan was blamed for killing a lot of the U.S. troops. I don't think that would've worked out well I think that would've started a bigger problem since he was a clan leader and had a lot of power but I think if they were going to try to capture him I don't think they should want to sit down and have a discussion with him. I think they should just go ahead and capture the man and that should be the end of it.

My favorite car is a lam borghini. It is fast. Iwant to get my license so I can drive. I want my first car to be a Chevy Caprice box. I will have to study to get my license. I do that next year.

Welcome!

Hello, I am excited to post the first entry in the new JOLT blog!

This blog is going to be a student-run forum where they will be posting updates on classes, teachings, photos, articles, things they are enjoying, etc. Pretty much, this blog will be whatever the students would like for it to be.

Tutors and students will be working on their postings together, but ultimately the work on this site will be that of the student.

We hope that those of you following the JOLT blog will enjoy being in the loop about what is going on with all of our students and tutors. As this blog grows we will be asking for input and suggestions for improvements. We are excited for this program, and for all of the room that we have to grow in the coming months.
